Every year in November, Ocoee celebrates their founders day. There are all kinds of activities which attract residents throughout the county. Some of the activities include a 5k, fishing, and activities for children such as arts and crafts as well as carnival activities. The Ocoee Founders Day is a great way to view some of the local art work and crafts. Items such as home-made jewelry and clothing are available for purchase as well.

Lake Starke is considered one of the “Fab Five” for fishing. Starke Lake is a 200-acre lake in Orange County. Biologists have labeled Lake Starke as a bass factory. The lake is one of the friendliest for anglers. Facilities include: a two-lane boat ramp with adjacent outdoor bathrooms; an ADA accessible fishing pier (baited every Tuesday and Thursday by the City of Ocoee); an enhanced shoreline aquascaped for bank fishing; three fish attractors marked with yellow FWC buoys; picnic tables and a fountain. Starke Lake fishing largemouth bass are abundant in this lake, but at times local fishermen have difficulty catching them due to the lake’s relatively deep water.

The West Orange trail when completed will be a 36 mile long 14 foot wide paved trail for hiking, biking, skating, and other physical activities.The first 22-mile segment of the Trail is complete from the Killarney Station to Welch Road in Apopka. The trail will eventually continue north of Apopka (Phase 4) to Kelly Park. Phase 5 will link the Trail to Lake County. The trail is located along the former abandoned railroad that serviced the Winter Garden Citrus industry. The trial is enjoyed by over 55,000 people monthly.  Along the trail, travelers can enjoy a butterfly garden, restrooms, water fountains, air stations for bicycles, Picnic areas, Playgrounds, a basketball court, and even a portion of the trail is available for horseback riding. West Orange Trail Map

The Ocoee Elementary Schools include Ocoee, Westbrooke, Spring Lake, Clarcona, and Citrus.    The middle schools for the Ocoee area are Ocoee Middle, Gotha Middle, Piedmont Lakes, and Lakeview. The high schools for Ocoee  are Ocoee High, Olympia, and West Orange.School zones change so be sure to verify the school by address before purchasing a property with Orange County Public Schools.
